Project Overview

The project idea so far was to make an efficient way of farming. The idea that we, as a group, have come up with was to produce a farm using the method of hydroponics. Where basically there are minerals that help aid the growth of the plant. Hydroponics revolves around only using water to help with growth of the plant, so since the soil is not there to help with giving the plant the minerals that it needs, the minerals have to be placed inside of the water. The basic idea is to have a barge with plants, and the water will be desalinated in order to give the plant the proper water that it needs in order to survive. Using salt water will end up killing the plant due to the effect that the salt has. In order to desalinate the water, it will be boiled and go through a cooling tube in order to sublimate the water and have it as a liquid in order for the plants to get the proper amount that they need. The water will exit the tube to be immediately underneath of the plants roots in order for them to get the water that they need. This idea will help out a lot with starving countries who do not have clean water and for that reason they are not able to properly grow the crops that they need to in order to survive and saturate their hunger. This idea should not cost much since desalinating water costs almost 2,000 dollars for about 300 thousand acres of water, it should be very cost efficient. I could not imagine this project to cost a lot of money, nor should it hurt the economy anymore since it will all be used with energy that already comes from the environment.
